Kerala School Games begins from November 30
Palakkad, Kerala, Nov 28 (UNI) The 50th Kerala School Games would be held here from November 30 to December 5.
Talking to newspersons here today, Additional Education Director A Sasidharan said more than 6,400 sportspersons, including 3,500 competitors in athletics, from across the state would compete in the seven-day meet.
Sasidharan said for the first time, a five-km cross country competition for boys and three-km for girls would be conducted. The winning school would get the first prize of Rs one lakh, followed by Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively for the second and third placers, he added.
The individual champions would get a prize of 200 grams of gold, while each national record-breaker would be honoured with Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,000 to the state record winners.
The winners in the Games, would get a prize money of Rs 375, while the second and third placers would get Rs 250 and Rs 125 respectively. However, in athletics, the first prize would be Rs 750, the second Rs 650 and the third Rs 500.
