Kalam arrives on a two day visit to Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Nov 28 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam arrived here this afternoon on a two-day visit to Orissa and proceeded to the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur to attend a national seminar on Range Technology.
Orissa Governor Rameswar Thakur, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Bhubaneswar Mayor Mihir Mohanty, State Director General of Police Amarananda Pattnaik and Home Secretary Tarun Kanti Mishra received the President at the airport.
After staying at the airport for ten minutes, Mr Kalam flew to Chandipur to address a seminar on Range technology, held for the first time in the country to bring together scientists, engineers and technocrats on research and development activities relating to range technology and instrumentation system.
The President will stay for the night at Chandipur and return to the state capital tomorrow at 1025 hours to lay the foundation stone of International Institute of Information Technology (IIT) at Gothapadar, on the outskirts of the city.
He would then proceed to the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) a deemed university, to interact with tribal children.
The President will return to New Delhi at 1410 hours tomorrow.
