JSW Steel expects early agreement for Bengal plant
Kolkata, Nov 28 (UNI) JSW Steel, the flagship company of the Sajjan Jindal Group, expects modalities for an agreement with the West Bengal Government to be over shortly before setting up of the proposed ten-million tonne steel plant in the state.
" We are working out final modalities for a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government. The agreement will be struck as soon as the required approvals are received," Company's Head of Corporate Strategy Prasant Jain told reporters after a discussion with Industry Minister Sabyasachi Sen over the progress of the proposed project.
Mr Jain said the company had already identified land at Guptamoni in West Midnapore district on the Jharkhand border on the basis of accessibility of water, proximity to iron ore and coal reserve, road and railway facilities.
The project requires between 6,500 and 7,000 acres of land and has a target to produce 3.5 million tons in the first phase.
