Jordan Co to supply rock phosphate to IFFCO

Bareilly, Nov 28 (UNI) Jordan Phosphate Mining Company (JPMC) will supply rock phosphate to world's leading fertiliser manufacturer -- Indian Farmers Fertilisers Cooperative Limited (IFFCO).

Addressing a seminar here last night, member of the Jordan's royal family Walid Ismail Kurdi waxed eloquent on IFFCO's achievements on the global scale and contribution towards the agriculture sector.

Mr Kurdi also referred to the traditional cordial ties between the two countries.

Meanwhile, IFFCO's Managing Director Dr Uday Shankar Awasthi informed that under 'Vision 2010', the company would up the production of fertiliser to 100 lakh tonnes by 2010 from the current level of about 81 lakh tonnes annually.

''Besides, several projects undertaken by IFFCO nationally and internationally would be completed within the next three years,'' he added.

Mr Awasthi expressed confidence that the deal with JPMC would prove to be a milestone in making the Indian farmers self-reliant in phosphate fertiliser, whose demand has seen a spurt in recent times.

IFFCO has five units in the country viz Kalol (Ahmedabad, Gujarat), Kandla (Gujarat), Phoolpur (Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh), Aonla (Bareilly, UP) and Paradeep (Orissa).

Besides, IFFCO has a joint venture in Oman by the name of Om IFFCO.
