Jiribam to be conferred status of full fledged revenue district

Imphal, Nov 28 (UNI) Manipur's Jiribam will be converted into a full-fledged revenue district soon.

The decision was taken by state Cabinet last night, officials said here today.

Jiribam in the Manipur-Asom border was under Imphal East district and people faced problems as they had to come to Imphal East by flight from Silchar for official purposes due to the terrain.

Various bodies of the region had been demanding full-fledged district status for administrative purposes.

The state Cabinet also decided to fill up vacant posts of 17 MCS, 22 MPS, 12 MFS and another 12 SDC through the Manipur Public Service Commission. Some posts of police department would also be filled up.
