Varanasi, Nov 28 (UNI) Launching an oblique attack on former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, firebrand VHP General Secretary Pravin Togadia today said ''Jinnahwadi'' elements in BJP were blocking the party's return to Hindutva.
Interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of a VHP workers meet here, Dr Togadia maintained during the presidentship of Rajnath Singh attempts to bring back the BJP on the track of Hindutva have gained momentum. ''But the Jinnahwadi elements dethroned from power in party are averse to BJP's return to Hindutva,'' he said.
On Sunday during his visit to Lucknow, the VHP leader had advised th BJP chief to remove the ''virus of secularism'' from the party, while maintaining that the VHP's differences with the BJP have narrowed down. He had also congratulated Mr Singh for getting a full three year term as party president.
When asked about whether the VHP will work for BJP's victory in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Dr Togadia said, ''The organisation will work only for those candidates, who take a vow to further the Hindu cause. We will not support any particular chief ministerial contender or a specific political party,'' he maintained.
''Our response to BJP is guarded and the VHP will maintain the same distance with the party as in the past,'' he added.
