Gang leader involved in shootout incident nabbed
Chitradurga, Karnataka, Nov 28 (UNI) The police have arrested the leader of a gang, which was involved in a shootout on undertrials near Hiriyur in Tumkur district last month.
A police team headed by Hiriyur police inspector M Srinivasa, arrested Hebbettu Manja in Mangalore last night. Five members of the gang were arrested last week.
Manja and his men attacked the undertrials, who were having food in a dhaba with police escort party, killing one. The undertrials were being brought to Bangalore by a police party from here after a court hearing.
Police also recovered a country-made pistol and some ammunition from his posession.
He was remanded in judicial custody when he was produced before the court at Hiriyur today, police said.
