Five-day Bharat Nirman Public Information campaign ends
Gangtok, Nov 28 (UNI) The five-day long Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign, launched here by the Public Information Bureau, to educate the people about the flagship programmes of the central government ended here today.
Addressing the valedictory function advisor to the Chief Minister B B Gooroong, praised the Centre for focussing on public awareness for successful implementation of its various programmes.
Mr Gooroong said in the past several good schemes had failed to deliver due to lack of awareness and public participation.
He hoped that the Public Information campaign would help the people to understand the programme, its target, participate more actively in the nation building process and demand better delivery from the administration.
It would also help to reduce the rural urban divide, improve standard of living of people and arrest migration of people from rural to urban areas.
Mr Gooroong said in Sikkim where rural plan funds were mired in controversies and scam in the past was now vibrant with signs of development due to policy followed by the present government.
He said efforts were on to help the government process reach the doorsteps of rural people through the Block Adminitration centres and the people were being involed in the decision making process.
