Expelled FB MLA gets bail

Garwah, Nov 28 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to expelled Forward Bloc (FB) MLA Bhanu Pratap Shahi from Bhawnathpur in a year-old incident of manhandling a panchayat sevak.

District and Sessions Judge of Garwah Anirudh Prasad Sharma today granted bail to Mr Shahi after he provided two bail bonds of Rs 10,000 each.

Mr Shahi was sent to Garwah jail ater he surrendered on November 1 against three criminal charges.

Jharkhand High Court had already granted bail to Mr Shahi on November 24 in one matter.

However, Mr Shahi would remain in jail as another matter of SC/ST atrocity Act registered in Meral police station was still pending in the court.

Mr Shahi was denied to take oath twice by Governor Syed Sibtey Razi to become a Minister in the Madhu Koda government as he was facing three warrants.

Mr Shahi in the past few months had been in news and Chief Minister Madhu Koda also asserted in a press conference that he would be inducted into the Cabinet as all the arrest warrants had been withdrawn.

This forced the court to intervene and seek clarification from the investigating officers. The court wanted to know why the officers withdrew the warrant, issued by a Garhwa district court.
