Eurofly to launch Delhi-Rome flights from Jan '07
New Delhi, Nov 28: Eurofly, Italy's leading airline in the leisure market, today announced direct flights from Delhi to Rome Fuimicino.
The flights will operate three times a week from January 15 next year. Eurofly will deploy a brand new Airbus A330-200 with 256 economy and 26 business seats to service the sector.
''We undoubtedly see great traffic movements between the two cities and beyond,'' said airline's executive vice-president Armando Brunini. ''For middle and upper class Italians, India is a cultural experience. We hope to leverage this.'' Eurofly's launch fares for return journey will be Rs 20,000 (plus taxes) for economy and Rs 79,000 (plus taxes) for business class.
Passenger traffic between India and Italy totalled 150,000 last year and marked a jump of 25 per cent over the previous year.
Eurofly split from Alitalia's leisure division in 1989 and is now a privately-owned airline listed on Milan Stock Exchange. It operates international, medium-long haul, point-to-point flights with eight A320s and four A330-200s.
Besides, it has a A319 corporate jet with all business class seats that is deployed on Milan-New York route. Two more A330-200s will be added in December '06 and March '07.
