Court awarded 15 yrs imprisonment to Pakistani

Jammu, Nov 28: A Jammu and Kashmir court has awarded 15 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 8000 to a Pakistani national, who was apprehended with suspected materials on August 23, 2003 at Pargwal near Peer Baba.

Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Subhash Chander Gupta yesterday, held guilty Mohammad Tariq of Sialkote in Pakistan, under Foreigner Act and Arms Act.

The police have recovered a J&K map, 30 photographs of valley, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri. Tariq had also made a disclosure statement and Grenade, a China made pistol, 30 live cartridges and two magazines, one knife with a blade of seven inch length were recovered from him.

The Judge awarded five, three, three and four rigorous imprisonments and fine of totaling Rs 8000 under sections 7/25 Arms Act, 3/25 Arms Act, 4/25 Arms Act and 14 Foreigner Actrespectively for Tariq.

The Court also observed all the sentences will run concurrently.

In default of payment of fine on counts, the accused will further undergo RI for a period of six months.
