Cong fires broadside at Chouhan regime
Bhopal, Nov 28 (UNI) While the Madhya Pradesh government waxed eloquent on its achievements during a year of Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan's Chief Ministership, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jamuna Devi today described the tenure as disappointing, anarchic and heading towards corruption.
''Atrocities against dalits, tribals, minorities and women increased while the law and order situation worsened. By giving a free hand to its sister organisations Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the Bharatiya Janata Party regime indulged in communal polarisation,'' the Congress leader said.
Alleging that the government did not take adequate steps for addressing problems pertaining to power, roads and water, she added that the BJP reneged on its poll promises.
''It is ironical that the regime, which claims to favour farmers' interests, is unable to supply electricity and chemical fertiliser.
The administrative machinery is rendered inactive due to political intervention,'' Ms Devi added.
