Conduct CBI inquiry in Malegaon blast: Minorities Commission
Mumbai, Nov 28 (UNI) Maharashtra Minorities Commission chairperson Mohammad Naseem Siddiqui today demanded that the Malegaon blast case should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Talking to reporters here, Mr Siddiqui said the Commission has reached this conclusion after receiving similar feedback from several non-government organisations and local residents.
He said the police officers are making contradictory statements about the Malegaon blasts. On one hand, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) chief K P Raghuvanshi said Lashkar-e-Toiba was involved, but yesterday DGP P S Pasricha mentioned that Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) was involved in the same.
Mr Siddiqui said the CBI inquiry was ordered in the Khairlanji massacre considering the people's emotions and the same yardstick should be applied here also.
A meeting of legislators, belonging to minority community from Congress and NCP, will be organised on December 1 in which the issue of Malegaon blasts and demand for the CBI inquiry would be taken up, he added.
