Bookie remanded to police custody till December 2
Mumbai, Nov 28 (UNI) A local court today remanded a bookie, Samir Vinod Shetiya alias Ajay Dadar, to police custody till December 2, for his alleged involvement in betting on the Champions Trophy one-day international between Australia and the West Indies on November 5 at the Brabourne stadium here.
He was produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S Y Shisode this afternoon, who remanded him to police custody till December 2.
Shetiya had allegedly accepted bets on the matches played in the tournament, held in the country from October 7 to November 5, police said here.
Shetiya was arrested last night from his residence in western suburbs by the crime branch unit-X on information provided by an other accused.
Earlier, four bookies were arrested in the case and they were subsequently released on bail.
