BJP blames Cong's vote bank policy for nation's woes

Udupi, Nov 28 (UNI) Karnataka Higher Education Minister and BJP leader D H Shankaramurthy today charged that the vote bank policy pursued by the Congress had led to the educational, economic and social backwardness of minorities, especially Muslims, in the country in general and the State in particular.

Participating in the charge handing over ceremony of the BJP district unit to the newly elected Kota Srinivasa Poojary by the outgoing district President K Raghupathy Bhat, MLA, here, he accused the Congress of preventing the development of Muslims and other minorities by using them as just vote banks for its political gain.

The Minister said the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government had provided maximum grants to the State Minorities Commission for developmental activities by making a budgetary allocation of Rs 84 crore, compared to a meagre Rs 22 crore during the previous Dharam Singh Government.
