Army major killed in Anantnag hails from Thane
Thane, Nov 28 (UNI) Major Manish Hiraji Pitambare, who was among the four killed in south Kashmir district of Anantnag while fighting the terrorists early today, hailed from Thane in Maharashtra.
Thirty-two-year-old Pitambare was in the Army since the past 10 years and was attached to 3 Para. He succumbed to injuries before being admitted to the hospital.
He was a resident of Kolbad locality here. Manish is survived by his wife and 14 month-old child.
His body will arrive here tonight and a government official will receive the body on behalf of the state, family sources here said.
He is the third defence personnel from Thane to be killed in attack by terrorists, the other two being Vijay More and an airforce jawan,who were killed some months ago.
