Another land scam unearthed in JK, revenue officials searched
Srinagar, Nov 28 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation sleuths today conducted search operations in the premises of former revenue officials and a broker after a land grabbing case was registered against them, a VO spokesman said.
The sleuths launched searches in the premises of former Tehsildar Jammu, Patwari Halqa Deeli, and a broker involved in grabbing of over 219 'kanals' of State land by manipulating revenue records and making fraudulent entries and mutations.
He said the VO had received inputs that certain individuals, who were cultivators of a portion of the government land, had been dispossessed by land grabbers and the prime State land, situated within the Municipal limits of Jammu valuing crores of rupees, had been allotted by making fraudulent records by revenue department officials with some private people.
The conspiracy began in January last year, when the accused managed applications of seven individuals and got these endorsed to the Deputy Commissioner (Jammu) for appropriate action under rules, the spokesman said.
However, the applications never reached the Deputy Commissioner and were illegally processed by former 'Tehsildar' Shanti Sawroop Gupta. He marked the applications to Patwari on January 17 the same year, directing him to submit a report.
The Patwari showed these people to be displaced of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) and illegally recommended the conferring of proprietorship of over 219 'kanals' of the State land falling fraudulent, stating that these were in possession of this land.
