All clear at Lincoln Memorial: US official

Washington, Nov 28: The Lincoln Memorial in Washington was re-opened to tourists today after officials determined that suspicious items found on the site were not a danger, a US government official said.

The memorial was closed for more than two hours while officials investigated a vial of what appeared to be a liquid substance found in a restroom at the memorial. A note was also found with a message that read ''Do you know what anthrax is?'' and ''Do you know what a bomb is?'' A US government official said the all-clear was given after investigators determined there was no public health threat.

''From the Fire Department side, there is no biological, chemical or radiological hazard,'' Washington, D.C., Fire Battalion Chief Wayne Benson said.
