ABRS will start satyagraha if opposed
Tirupati, Nov 28 (UNI) The Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Sama (ABRS) and Confederation of Gandhian Social Activists and Organisations President Nirmala Deshpande today said the organisations would start 'satyagrahas' if anybody opposed their activities.
Addressing a press conference, she stressed that NGOs should mobilise the people and bring moral pressure on the government to initiate satyagrahas, which were required for the process of development. Minorities especially Muslims were living under fear, she added.
As a mark of the Pune agreement signed in 1932, youth would take up a massive rally from Pune to Nagpur on Sep 24, 2007 to highlight the problems of scheduled castes and poorer people, she added.
When asked about the Bhoodhan movement, she said some land donated by landlords during the bhoodhan movement 40 years back, were still in other hands.
The organisation would take up the issue and discuss with the concerned persons to take over such lands.
Rasthtriya Seva Samithi (RASS) General Secretary G Muniratnam expressed displeasure over releasing of funds to the voluntary organisations by the government and demanded an easy process in releasing of funds for speeding up development activities.
The Andhra Pradesh Government is the first in the country to constitute a committee involving NGOs and government officials to take up welfare activities, with the involvement of social voluntary organisation, he claimed.
