590 rebels apprehended in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 28 (UNI) As many as 590 rebels have been apprehended by Assam Rifles from various parts of Manipur till November 14 since January 1,2005, a senior army official said.

As per the operational achievement of AR only 26 ultras have laid down their arms and ammunition and joined the mainstream while 95 others were killed in a gun fighting with the security forces.

In the past 22 and half months, the AR have recovered 106 Improvised Electronic Devices, 183 sophisticated weapons, 75 grenades and 14 mobiles phones.

The riflemen also seized 50, 245 kgs of Ganja, 120 trucks loaded with timber and 35, 268 litres of illicit liquor.
