3-day ICCE begins December 11
New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) More than 500 global mining experts along with engineers, coal equipment manufacturers and environmentalists will participate in the three-day International Coal Congress Expo (ICCE) beginning here December 11.
The meet will coincide with the 87th meeting of International Organising Committee of the World Mining Congress (WMC).
''Coal mining experts from more than 15 countries including the US, the UK, Australia, China, France, Poland and Russia will present their keynote papers on various subjects including expanding the resource base in coal, new technology and innovations for exploitation of coal, expanding role of coal in power generation, improving environment performance of coal and safety of workers in coal mines,'' an ICCE release said quoting Dr Kirit Parikh, Member (Energy) Planning Commission.
Coal Secretary H C Gupta said, ''The demand for coal in India is on constant growth and the production during the current financial year is expected to be 427 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) against the demand of 473 MMT. The coal demand is projected to grow to 1267 MMT by the year 2025 against projected supply of 1134 MMT.'' The government is taking various measures to increase the production, he added.
The meet is being jointly organised by the Ministries of Coal, Power, Mines, Petroleum, Science and Technology, Forest and environment and Planning Commission.
