Rajkot, Nov 27 (UNI) Mahila Swaraj Abhiyan, a group of 70 voluntary organisations working for women's cause, today accused the State Government of misusing its powers with an eye on next month's gram panchayat elections in 10,000 villages.

Adweta Marathe of the Abhiyan, while speaking to reporters here today, alleged that the ''Samras Scheme'' is one such instance.

She alleged that while filing nominations forms, candidates were being asked to submit certain certificates which are not really required to be submitted as per the law. Only the caste certificate is a mandatory document, she said.

Ms Marathe said the Abhiyan has received several complaints about mamlatdars of some villages asking women and other candidates not to file the nominations papers as the villages were going to adopt the ''Samras Scheme''.
