Watson remains out of contention for second Ashes Test

Sydney, Nov 27 (UNI) All-rounder Shane Watson will remain out of contention due to a hamstring injury as Australian selectors meet tomorrow to pick the team for the second Ashes Test starting December 1 in Adelaide.

''The National Selection Panel (NSP) would reconvene tomorrow to discuss the squad for the second Ashes Test match in Adelaide beginning on Friday 1 December,'' a Cricket Australia release said here today.

Watson continues his rehabilitation following the injury which forced him to miss the first Test in Brisbane.

''Shane Watson continued his rehabilitation this afternoon. The outcome was that his hamstring injury is still not fully recovered and it was decided that the second Test would be too early a return in the circumstances. His rehabilitation will continue with a view to him being available for selection for the third Test in Perth,'' Australian team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said.
