Villagers block road for govt benefits

Puducherry, Nov 27 (UNI) As many as 200 villagers of Thengaithittu were arrested when they put up a road blockade at Marappalam Junction today.

They were protesting the alleged failure of Mudalierpet DMK MLA M A S Subramanian in providing them free gas stoves, dhotis and sarees among other government benefits.

Congress Councillor Bhaskaran led the agitation. Traffic to Cuddaore was affected for about 30 minutes due to the road roko.
