Uma Bharti says she may not contest election
Chhatarpur (MP), Nov 27: Bharatiya Jan Shakti President Uma Bharti has expressed possibility that she would not contest in any election in future.
Ms Bharti, while addressing a seminar on present situations in Madhya Pradesh organised by the Bundelkhand Swabhiman Goshthi last evening, said it was possible that she may never fight in any election but she would not return to the BJP.
Expressing fear of threat to her life from the BJP Governments in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, the sadhvi asked people to pray for her as she wanted to live for 10 years more.
She expressed her desire that the BJS moved on the path of 'Swadeshi' shown by Mahatma Gandhi, nationalism shown by Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and 'Ekatm Manavad' taught by Pandit Deendayal Uppadhyay and that India became a number one country of the world by 2020.
Pointing out that when poor people were threatened they were either mowed down or became violent, the former Chief Minister said naxalism was becoming a threat in the Bundelkhand region because of sense of insecurity among poor.
Commenting upon violent incident at Seroda village during Malehra by-poll, she felt that though violence had not been a part of state politics, the Chhatarpur incident was cause for concern.
The fiery sanyasin said efforts to tackle terrorism were being taken along the border but dealing with naxalism was a difficult thing.
''Instead of cutting the head of Ravana, we must think on striking arrow at the demon's naval,'' she said.
She warned that did we want to make Chhatarpur another Jehanabad.
Former Minister Dashrath Jain opined that the biggest loss since independence had been the deterioration of our character, while corruption had taken place of 'satyagrah' and good behaviour.
