Truck crash in China mountain kills 22

BEIJING, Nov 27 (Reuters) A truck turned over on a mountain road in China's remote northwest region of Xinjiang, killing 22 people, Xinhua news agency said today.

The truck with 25 people on board flipped over in the Altun Mountain area before dawn on Friday, Xinhua said.

''Twenty-two people, including the driver, were killed instantly,'' the agency said, adding that 20 of the dead had been riding in the back of the truck.

Xinjiang is home to 8 million Uighurs, a largely Islamic people who share linguistic and cultural bonds with neighbouring Central Asia.
