Thane, Nov 27 (UNI) There is an unprecedented clamour among ticket seekers for the forthcoming Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) polls, scheduled for February 2007.

There are 116 seats in the TMC, where thousands of different political workers are vying with one another in their desperate bid to obtain tickets for the February polls.

''Obtaining a party ticket is one big hurdle we have to cross before anything else'', says Dashrath Patil, one of the Congress ticket aspirants.

At present, the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance is ruling the TMC. The Shiv Sena ticket is the most sought after, followed by that of the Congress, NCP, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and BJP.

With just over two months away, the Congress and its alliance partner in the state government NCP, have not yet reached any such understanding for the TMC polls, with a section of the Congressmen staunchly opposing any truck with the Sharad Pawar-led party in the local body polls.
