Starry appearances enliven Day five of IFFI

Panaji, Nov 27 (UNI) Cinema celebration is reaching a cresendo as the 37th edition of the International Film Festival of India reaches its halfway mark.

Day five witnessed the presence of several celebrities which added both colour and weight to the occasion.

At Kala Academy, appearance of Juhi Chawla for presentation of Waris Shah Ishq Da Waris kept the shutterbugs busy, while presence of celebrated Malyalam Director TV Chandra with the whole cast of his yet to be released film Aadum koothu, including actor Cheron and Nevya Nair, at its screening turned out to be double treat for lovers of Tamil cinema.

Equally exciting was the arrival of Bengali star Rituparna Sengupta, along with director Saibal Mitra, for a presentation on her film 'Songshoy'.

So was the appearance of actress Nandita Das and actor Atul Kulakarni for their film 'Maati Maay'.

Master classes session with Indian born and Paris-based filmaker Vijay Singh with French director Benoit Jacquot was a further attraction for serious film lovers and critics.

A session with Henry Meyer, director and Tuva Novotny, actress of Swedish film 'Four weeks in June' also attracted a lot of attention.

To add further to the thrill was a Sonu Nigam concert in the evening.

Tomorrow also promises to be equally exciting with veteran Australian director Rolf De Heer set to talk on the film industry of his country and its ties with India.

His film the 'Tracker' is also slated for screening.

Other notable screenings for tomorrow include' Parineeta and Chupke Chupke (both Hindi), Birds of Heaven (French) Eakantham (Malyalam), With the Numbered days(Spanish), Marupakkam, and Antarnad (Konkani) among thers.
