Samaresh wins Teacher's Acheivement Award for sports
New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) Commonwealth Games multiple gold medallist Samaresh Jung won the Teacher's Acheivement Award in the sports category here.
''I was not prepared for this. I thought first being nominated was great but winning is better. I thank Teacher's Achievement Awards, the jury, my coaches and my association. I thank them all for this award,'' he said on receiving the award last night.
Samaresh's wife Anuja Jung, who is also a Commonwealth Games gold medallist in shooting, was present on the occasion.
A special recognition was given to Arjuna Award winning golfer Ashok Singh Malik for his contribution to the sport.
''I am overwhelmed, I thank Teacher's and the jury for having conferred this award. Along with the Arjuna Award, this is among the most coveted award I have been given,'' he said.
The award ceremony was attended by among others squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya, shooters Anjali Bhagwat and Abhinav Bindra, former cricketer Atul Wassan and Billiards star Michael Ferrera.
