Police seizes pistol from a ginger trader

Aizawl, Nov 27: Mizoram police has seized a .22 pistol from a trader near Mizoram-Asom border last night and registered a case against him.

Police said the trader, Shalai Ahmed Laskar (25), a resident of Bagha near Asom-Mizoram border was carrying the US made pistol inside a ginger and chilli sack.

Acting on a tip off, police conducted a search and found the pistol from him.

Later following an interrogation, Shalai confessed that he had bought it from a Myanmari businessman for Rs 10,000 and was carrying it to Silchar, police added.
