Police arrest 17 bargirls in a raid on 2 beer bars
Mumbai, Nov 27 (UNI) The Goregaon police arrested 17 bargirls and two managers in simultaneous raids on two beerbars in the western suburbs early today.
The raid was conducted concurrently on Jalva and Sapna beer bars at 0045 hours, and 17 bar-girls and two managers, Ramesh Shankar Shetty (35) and Mohammed Samir Sheikh (32) were arrested and booked under the relevant provisions of the Mumbai Police Act, police said.
While Shetty, the manager of Jalva bar was booked for his failure to renew the bar's licence, which he ought to have done at the beginning of this financial year itself, Sheikh was booked for running the Sapna bar beyond the stipulated time limit, they disclosed.
Both the managers were later released on a bail bond of Rs 3,000 each, while the bar-girls were released on bail bonds of Rs 1,200 each, they added.
