Pakistan, Saudi Arabia hold joint military drills

Islamabad, Nov 27 (UNI) The armed forces of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia began joint exercise today to further reinforce cooperation in military operations.

"The exercise, code named AL-SAMSAAM-2 (Sharp Sword) is a sequel to the series of exercises, which are routinely carried out from time to time between the two armed forces," said an official announcement.

A mechanised contingent of royal Saudi Land Forces (SLF) and elements of Pakistani armour, infantry, artillery, air defence, aviation and air force are participating in the drills.

These drills are being conducted to enhance cooperation and understanding between the two armies and to allow sharing of experiences in the field of military operations.

In the three week long joint exercise, troops participating from both the forces are likely to gain maximum from the expertise of each other, said the announcement.
