Pact with Uma possible if she accepts Sonia as leader: Digvijay
Morena, MP, Nov 27 (UNI) All-India Congress Committee General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today said an understanding might be reached with Bharatiya Jan Shakti Founder-President Uma Bharti if the firebrand sadhvi accepted Congress President Sonia Gandhi as her leader.
''Those owing allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have troubled Ms Bharti,'' he told mediapersons prior to a farmers' convention organised here.
On his party's performance in the recently-concluded bypolls to the Malehra assembly constituency and Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Singh claimed that it was actually the BJP's votebank that had been eroded.
''In the Congress, the MLAs choose a Chief Minister while in the BJP, Chief Ministers are imposed,'' he alleged.
Responding to a question on the law and order situation, Mr Singh said the Madhya Pradesh Police's morale had declined.
''I do not believe in the politics of destruction. No MLA listens to Ms Bharti any longer. There is no groupism in the Congress. My fight is against the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh,'' he added.
