NTPC to set up 900 MW coal or gas fired power plant in SriLanka
Mumbai, Nov 27 (UNI) The state owned power utility NTPC Ltd today said it will submit a proposal to set up a 900-megawatt coal or gas-fired power plant in neighbouring Sri Lanka.
Informing the BSE, the company said the proposal was still under discussion and it was likely to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOU) with the Sri Lankan government shortly.
Referring to the news item appearing in leading portal titled ''NTPC overtake Infosys in terms of Market Cap, says may invest 0 Mn in Sri Lanka plant'', NTPC has clarified to BSE that the Company has been discussing with the Government of Sri Lanka since 2005 a proposal for putting up of a power plant in that country.
