NCP Secretary Tariq Anwar demands district status for Barh

Barh, Bihar, Nov 27 (UNI) National General Secretary of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Tariq Anwar today demanded the state government to accord district status to Barh, now a sub division.

Addressing party workers, who staged dharna in support of the demand, Mr Anwar said Barh was accorded the status of sub division long back but it had not been upgraded to district as yet.

''Several sub divisions created after Barh, had already been upgraded as districts but demand of people of this area was still being ignored by the state government'', he observed.

Mr Anwar said that Barh fulfilled all criteria required for its upgradation as district and there was no justification to ignore the genuine demand of local people.
