Mysore royal scion, Ambareesh campaign for Congress
Mysore, Nov 27 (UNI) Scion of the erstwhile Mysore royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar today jumped into the Congress' election campaign bandwagon along with Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting M H Ambareesh for the Chamundeswari Assembly byelection, to be held on December four.
Before commencing electioneering work, Mr Wadiyar visited the Chamundeswari temple atop Chamundi hills and offered pooja. He visited many houses in the hills, which came under the constituency.
Joined by party candidate Siddaramaiah and Mr Ambareesh, he visited various villages of the constituency and addressed them.
Suttur seer Sri Shivarathri Deshkendra Swamy felicitated Mr Ambareesh when he visited the mutt.
Addressing the electorate, the Union Minister said it was not possible to purchase people with money or any largesse and asserted that the people would teach a befitting lesson to the JD(S).
Addressing media persons jointly, former Ministers D B Chandre Gowda, H C Srikantiah, T B Jayachandra and B Shivaram accused the JD(S) of trying to win the election on casteist grounds.
In a separate press conference here, Janata Dal(U) candidate A S Guruswamy alleged that rival parties were trying to bring bogus voters from outside and lodged a complaint with the Election Observer in this regard. He alleged the JD(S) had created fear among the voters and JD(S) workers were continuing to obstruct his election campaign despite police protection.
