Modified design to replace the old fencing
Aizawl, Nov 27 (UNI) The Centre has decided to replace the damaged 854 km fencing along Indo-Bangla border here with new barbed wire design.
BSF official sources here today informed that about 854 km fence erected under phase I was found to be damaged, due to which they were not able to check the illegal cross-border activities effectively.
Besides, the fencing was done as per old design, they added.
Currently, the fencing in phase-II was being done as per new modified barbed wire fencing, which was more effective in checking infiltration The construction of the modified design would start within a few months.
Phase-II of the Indo-Bangla border fencing involved construction of 2429 km of sealing, the official sources said.
To expedite the fencing works, several construction agencies including National Building Construction Corporation and Border Roads Organisation have been engaged, they said.
