Militant killed, 3 jawans wounded,RDX recovered in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 27 (UNI) One militant was killed and three security personnel wounded while security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including RDX, in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

Official sources said a joint operation was launched by security forces, police and CRPF at a village in Qazigund, about 80 km from here in south Kashmir district of Anantnag early today.

However, when the village was being cordoned off from all sides, militants attacked security forces with automatic weapons and also hurled hand grenades.

Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce encounter, which was still going on when reports last came in, one militant was killed. Three security personnel were also injured they said.

Sources said security forces launched a search operation at village Satur in Pulwama district of south Kashmir after a tip off that militants had stored arms and ammunition in a hideout there.

After a long search, troops finally busted a hideout and recovered ten kg RDX, ten UBGL grenades, 90 AK rounds, three AK magazines, four hand grenades, one radioset and 'yellow powder' for making explosive devices, the sources added.

In a similar operation at Kanganm troops recovered one AK rifle, two magazine and 60 rounds from a dugout in the undergrowth. Four UBGL grenades, one Pressure Cooker IED along with large quantity of rations, medicines and equipment were recovered from a hideout at Baramulla in north Kashmir.

Security forces recovered two satellite phones, four detonators and Indian currency at Rampore, Bandipora where three security personnel were killed and five others wounded in a two-day encounter which ended yesterday.
