Gwalior, Nov 27 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Revenue Minister Kamal Patel has said a master plan would be implemented for developing the state's villages and adding to their charm.

''The government is focussing on cleanliness of both urban and rural areas,'' he told mediapersons here yesterday.

As per the plan, land would be earmarked for middle schools in villages having primary schools while land for high schools, 'anganbadi' (child care centres) etc would be earmarked in villages that already have middle schools.

''Cremation grounds and graveyards will be freed from encroachment. Besides, village roads will be widened and freed from encroachment. For villagers' convenience, the government is desirous of constructing patwari (junior official) residences within the villages,'' Mr Patel added.

Non-forested land would be leased out to the educated unemployed and organisations, including those of voluntary nature. The first two years would be a revenue holiday.

''Through an amendment in the Revenue Book Circular (RBC), the government doubled compensation to those affected by natural calamities. Attempts were made to speedily dole out benefits including a crop insurance scheme and low-interest loans to farmers,'' the minister claimed.

More than Rs 18 crore were distributed to flood-affected persons here while Rs 40 crore were disbursed in the rest of the state.

Drought-hit districts would also receive immediate assitance as per the new RBC.
