Mumbai, Nov 27: Maharashtra Director General of Police Dr P S Pasricha today claimed that conspiracy behind the Malegaon blasts has been unravelled and it is the handiwork of members of the outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and two unidentified foreign nationals.

Addressing mediapersons here, Dr Pasricha said all the arrested in connection with the four blasts that shook the communally-sensitive town of Malegaon, owe allegiance to SIMI.

Among the arrested, Mohammed Zahir Abdul Majid and Mohammed Ali alias Junaid are also accused in the 7/11 serial blasts, the DGP said. Noor-ul Huda, Shabir Ahmed Masiullah, Riaz Ahmed, Dr Salman Farsi, Dr Farook Anwar Iqbal, Sheikh Mohan Ali and Asif Khan Bashir Khan formed the local module.

The DGP said the local module first conspired to carry out the blasts during the marriage of Noor-ul Huda in the month of May. They had planned to engineer the blasts near the mosque and other areas of religious importance to engender riots, Dr Pasricha said.

However, intervention by the police, religious scholars and civil society groups, helped in preventing the situation from turning into a law and order problem, he added.
