JSACS to begin self-employment schemes for HIV/AIDS patients
Ranchi, Nov 27 (UNI) Collaborating with various government and non-government organisations, Jharkhand state AIDS Control Society (JSACS) would launch a programme to start self-empolyment programmes for HIV/AIDS patients in the state.
Addressing a joint press conference here, Project Director Pradeep Kumar and JSACS Joint Director P Taneja said steps were being taken to implement this programme to help the HIV/AIDS patients economically.
Replying to a query, Mr Taneja said work was in progress to find out the actual number of AIDS patients adding there were 1137 HIV/AIDS positive cases throughout the state.
Project Director Mr Kumar said awareness programmes have been taken up to make people aware about the diseases adding a special three-day programme was organised to mark the World AIDS Day.
He said a human chain would be formed on November 27 from Rajbhawan consisting about 40,000 people.
Mr Kumar said besides a human chain, a series of programmes have been organised in which Governor Sayed Sibte Razi and Chief Minister Madhu Koda would also be present.
He said a mobile van would be flagged off on November 1 which would reach all parts of the state in 15 days.
He said 22 prevention of parent to child transmission centre would be opened to check HIV infection to infants from their mothers.
