Panaji, Nov 27 (UNI) Hollywood has developed an attraction for India --for its low cost technical expertise-- in making films.

Film labs in Hyderabad last year did the computer graphics (CG) of Hollywood blockbuster 'Click'.

Now producers of two more films 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Alchemist' have approached labs in the south for CG of these films, President South Indian Film Exporters Asociation L Suresh said.

He was speaking at seminar on the South Indian Film Industry organised by the CII at the International Film Festival of India here.

Mr Suresh said the reason for the atraction of Hollywod producers to Indian labs was the cheap cost of the work without any compromise on quality.

''Today South India boasts of the best technicians in the country. Their work is at par with Hollywood and or European country,'' he said.

It can be safely said that 50 per cent of the best technicians come from the south today, he added.

''It is now very heartening that we are being approached by Hollywood for our quality of work,'' he said.

He, however, expressed fears over the screening of Hollywood blockbusters dubbed in languages like Telugu and Hindi, as according to him, it would result in great loss to distributers and producers.

''It might be good for theatre owners, but it destroys the distributers,'' he said.

Mr Suresh gave the example of James Bond super hit 'Casino Royale' whose around 70 dubbed copies have been released in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, elimnating the space in the theatres for regional films.

However, Mr PK Nair, former curator of the National Film Archives of India said the fears of Hollywood taking upon Indian cinema may be unfounded as the indigenous cinema has its own place and attraction.
