India, Pak seen to embark on 'Wedding Diplomacy'
New Delhi, Nov 27: After the 1987 and 2005 'Cricket Diplomacy,' India and Pakistan have now embarked on what is seen as 'Wedding Diplomacy.'
Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, who arrived here on Saturday on a three-day private visit to attend the wedding ceremony of Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar's daughter, held a meeting with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here today.
The meeting took place at a lunch hosted by the External Affairs Minister.
After their hour-long luncheon meeting, the two Ministers spoke to reporters briefly. The two Ministers looked relaxed and their body language clearly indicated the warmth in their personal relations and the meeting.
Mr Kasuri announced that Mr Mukherjee would be visiting Islamabad for a formal meeting.
''I enjoyed the hospitality. I look forward to receiving him (Mr Mukherjee) on January 13,'' he said.
Mr Mukherjee said ''we will have substantive talks at that point of time.'' Mr Kasuri said that interacting with a ''very senior'' Congress leader, gave him great hope. ''What we do we need strong people,'' he added.
