HC seeks status report on shifting of abattoir
Bangalore, Nov 27 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today directed the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) to file a status report within three months regarding the progress made by it in implementing the court direction about shifting the slaughter house in the city.
Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Mr Justice B S Patil also directed to post the matter after three months.
The BMP filed an affidavit that in compliance of the court direction, a place had been located at Ignoor for setting up the abattoir and land acquired for the purpose. The BMP had deposited the entire cost of the land of about Rs 290.51 lakh and tenders have been invited from the private sector for building a modern slaughter house. The management of the slaughter house would be handed over to the BMP in the near future.
Taking these submissions on record, the court issued the direction as the BMP Counsel submitted that they needed about 30 months for completing the project.
