Gowda launches bullock cart procession
Mysore, Nov 27 (UNI) Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) President H D Deve Gowda today launched a massive bullock cart procession of farmers in the city in protest against the Centre's ''anti-farmer'' policies.
Mr Gowda flagged off 524 bullock carts, displaying JD(S) symbol, in front of the Mysore palace. Raising slogans against the Centre, the procession passed through various villages in Chamundeswari Assembly segment and ended at Kalastavadi village. He also travelled some distance in a bullock cart.
Speaking on the occasion, he asked the farmers to hold such processions all over the State to highlight to the Union Government the farmers' problems and to exert pressure to make pro-farmer policies. The rally had nothing to do with the coming Chamundeswari Assembly byelection, he added.
