Global Indian Independent Filmmakers Alliance Launched

Panaji, Nov 27 (UNI) The Global Indian Independent Filmmakers Alliance' was launched today at the International Film Festival of India here in the presence of 36 filmmakers to focus on the development of the Indian Independent Filmmaking and Entertainment sector, and provide a platform that will create the visibility and access for Indian Filmmaking Content Globally.

It aims at putting Global Indian Filmmakers at the forefront of the digital age and be an extraordinary premium resource for making invaluable contributions to our industry.

Chairing the first meeting, Indian Filmmaker Ketan Mehta said, "The entertainment industry has never been so exciting, challenging and important to India. Today, we embrace all of the new ways to create content, distribute content and view content. There are so many more choices and, at once, many more business opportunities.

Indian Entertainment has been noticed worldwide but the appropriate commercial breakthroughs have yet to happen in the global marketplace." The "Global Indian Independent Filmmakers Alliance" will keep it's fingers on the pulse of all of the changes across the entire entertainment landscape, and will interact with the key people in India and overseas who direct and respond to those changes. It will participate in the most meaningful way and improve global Indian filmmaker's position in the coming years.

The strategy seeks to create a vibrant environment for the industry through five key thrusts like -- create production financing and co-production opportunities for global Indian filmmakers, develop markets and attend film festival to promote films by them establish and position India as a location for global filmmaking, nurture and augment local talents through international quality entertainment and media education specially in the area of script writing and script development; foster a conducive regulatory environment and cinema culture across India.

Mr Bhuvan Lall, who chaired the meeting along with Ketan Mehta said, "We look forward to working in close association with festivals, governments, industry bodies and the global filmmaking community to support the Global Indian Independent Filmmakers Alliance's talent and creativity across the world." "The Global Indian Independent Filmmakers Alliance" will have representation and chapters in all major filmmaking centres of India and in Europe, UK, Australia, Canada and the US.'' he added.
