Four new meet records created on day three
Bangalore, Nov 27 (UNI) Four new marks, including a national record, were shattered on the third day of the 22nd National Junior Athletics Championship being held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium here today.
A G Mohammed Fayaz of Tamil Nadu emerged the fastest athlete in the Under-16 boys group winning the 100 m sprint event with a national record breaking effort. He stopped the clock at 11.03 secs erasing the two-year-old mark which stood in the name of K P Anoop of Kerala.
Kerala girl Anitha Abraham won his state's first ever gold in Hammer throw (U-20) event with a new meet record of 48.68 m. Shilpa Chauhan of Uttar Pradesh, who also bettered meet record, had to be satisfied with Silver. Mantro Ramswarupsinh of Gujraj won Bronze.
The old record of 47.06 stood in the name of Ritu Rani of Delhi created in 2002.
In Boys U-18 Hammer Throw event, Ejaj Ahmed of Uttar Pradesh created a new record with a throw of 67.00 m obliterating the old record of 64.70 m held by his statemate Lokesh Yadav. Vinay Singh of Chhatisgarh took Silver and Jaweam Singh of Punjab Bronze.
In 1500 M run, Ravinder of Delhi (U-20 Boys) broke an 11-year-old record by breasting the tape with a timing of 3:57.35 min. Sanjeev Kumar Punjab had held the old record of 3:58.30 made 1995.
