Daliya wants Sourav back, sports minister also backs Bengal tiger

Kolkata, Nov 27 (UNI) Even as V V S Laxman was named as injured skipper Rahul Darvid's replacement, CAB President Jagmohan Dalmiya today said Sourav Ganguly should be reinstated in the playing eleven of Team India based on his performance in the domestic circuit.

Talking to the media after the CAB Working Committee Meeting, Mr Dalmiya said, ''We want Sourav to be taken back into the Indian side.'' ''A resolution was passed in the Working Committe that a letter would be written to the BCCI to impress upon the senior selection committee to consider Sourav Ganguly for the senior side,'' he said.

He also added that CAB wanted to hold an international tournament which could be an ODI or a Twenty-20 tournament in May to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of the CAB.

''A letter would be written to the BCCI seeking permission for the same,'' he said.

Asked how confident was he about getting a nod considering the relation he had with BCCI, he said, ''I am an optimist.'' MORE UNI BA LL RAI2249
