Dalits get license for guns

Chhatarpur, MP, Nov 27 (UNI) Seven dalits, who were allegedly harassed at Saddapura village in Chhatarpur district recently, were given license to keep guns.

Sagar Divisional Commissioner R R Gangarekar and Collector Ajatshatru had made the announcement in the village on November 25.

Patwari Shashikant Dubey was suspended and directions to remove panchayat karmi Rajaram Patel were issued in this regard.

Besides, the district administration provided Rs 6,500 as compensation to the family members of victims.

Directions were issued to free land from mortgage taken in order to send the victims to Gaya and ensuring bank loan for purchasing gun.

On November 22, seven dalits were harassed and three of them ill-treated. Earlier, their heads were shaven and they were forcibly taken to Bodh Gaya for which Rs 50,000 was taken from them.

Eight people were arrested, while a case was registered against 31 persons.
