Indore, Nov 27 (UNI) Four members of an interstate gang, which smuggled handmade hashish from Nepal via Bihar and sold it here, were arrested here today and ten kg of the substance -- besides Rs 15,000 -- seized.

''Three of those apprehended belong to Bihar's Motihari district while the fourth, identified as Younus Qureshi, is a smuggler who was active in the local Mumbai Market. The kingpin is Dhaka-resident Ata-ur-Rehman,'' Superintendent of Police Anshuman Yadav said here.

Following information about such hashish being sold here, a team led by Additional SP Dharmendra Chaudhry was entrusted with the task of arresting the gangsters.

A cordon was set up at Jinsi Haat Maidan where Suraj Yadav, Rambabu Yadav and Qureshi were caught redhanded with eight kg of the substance and the cash. Based on their confession, Bhagwan Yadav was arrested at Mumbai Market area and two kg charas seized.

''Ata-ur-Rehman used women as carriers. Their accomplices posed as cloth merchants and put up at lodges or 'choultries' and the material was delivered through local agents. Qureshi was one such agent,'' Mr Yadav added.
